Health and Safety Policy
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
This is the Health and Safety Policy of London Analytics Ltd and covers the office at 3 Queens House, 176 South Lambeth Road, London SW8 1QS
- Our statement of general policy is:
- to provide adequate control of the health and safety risks arising from our work activities;
- to consult with our employees on matters affecting their health and safety;
- to provide information, instruction and supervision for employees;
- to ensure all employees are competent to do their tasks, and to give them adequate training;
- to review and revise this policy as necessary at regular intervals.
- Responsibilities
The Director has overall and final responsibility for health and safety.
- All employees have to:
- co-operate with the Director on health and safety matters;
- not interfere with anything provided to safeguard their health and safety;
- take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others, including fellow employees; and
- report all health and safety concerns to the Director.
- General Structure of Assessments of Risks Arising from Work Activities
Each of the following risk assessments will be completed as follows. All are the responsibility of the Director:
- the findings of the general risk assessment will be reported;
- action required to remove/control risks will be approved;
- responsibility for ensuring the action required is implemented; and
- checking that the implemented actions have removed/reduced the risks.
- The risk assessment will be reviewed every 12 months or when the work activity changes, whichever is soonest.
- The following risk assessments will be undertaken every 12 months
- General risk
- Fire
- Display screen equipment, for each employee
- Manual handling, for each employee
- Noise
- Hazardous materials, including lead and asbestos
- Information, instruction and supervision
Health and safety advice is available from the Director. Responsibility for ensuring that employees working at locations under the control of other employers are given relevant health and safety information rests with the Director.
- Competency for tasks and training<
The Director holds responsiblity to ensure the following.
- Training will be identified, arranged and monitored;
- induction training will be provided for all employees;
- job specific training will be provided; and
- training records are kept.
- Accidents, first aid and work-related ill health
All accidents and cases of work-related ill health are to be recorded in the accident book, which is kept and maintained by the Director.
The first aid box is kept in the office by the Director.
The responsibility for reporting accidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences to the enforcing authority rests with the Director.
- Monitoring
To check our working conditions, and ensure our safe working practices are being followed, we actively carry out inspections, reports, spot checks etc; and reactively investigate accidents and sickness.
The responsibility for this, for investigating accidents, for investigating work-related causes of sickness absences, and for acting on investigation findings to prevent a recurrence, rests with the Director.
- Emergency procedures: fire and evacuation
Escape routes are: front door, window, stairs to back door. These are checked by the Director, weekly.
The fire extinguisher and fire blanket are located in the kitchen, beside the kettle, and are maintained and checked by the Director, biannually.
Emergency evacuation will be tested every six months.
- Review
This health and safety policy is effective as of 1 June 2008, and has been approved by Andrew Smith, Director. It will be reviewed on or before 1 June 2009, and will include in-person consultation with all employees by the Director.
